06-Feb-2016 -- This is the first out of seven reports on confluence visits during a car trip across the USA.
In the afternoon – just a little more than an hour before visiting this confluence, I had just landed on Washington Dulles International Airport coming from my home in Switzerland. My brother-in-law picked me up from the airport. On our way, we would pass by this confluence point on Interstate 495 by 1.5 kilometres. So I made a spontaneous suggestion to quickly deviate to the confluence point. I really had to hurry because the whole family was waiting for us with dinner. Secondly, it was getting dark.
This was one of my quickest confluence visits. The time between leaving the motorway and entering it after the visit was around 10 minutes. Glenville Road almost leads directly to the confluence point, which is located at the end of a dead-end road with apartment housing and mostly Mexican population. While my brother-in-law turned the car, I jumped out and ran to the north-side of a multi-story building, where I came as close as 4 m to the confluence point. The actual point is inside the house. For a zero-reading of GPS, one would need to climb on the roof (not to be understood as a recommendation).
When we reached home in Ellicot City, our 10 minute delay got noticed by the other family members. So I had to admit my little adventure. In the evening we prepared dumplings for the Chinese New Year.
