12-May-2002 -- I visited this confluence with my wife, Diane, and with my father, Marvin. It was his first. Our family had been in Annapolis, Maryland for the graduation exercises of one of our children earlier today. We had done some pre-visit reconnoitering yesterday during our visit to Washington, DC, so the trip didn’t take too long today. We found this confluence to be inside one of the buildings of the Flower Branch Apartment complex in Silver Spring, Maryland. Since it was Sunday afternoon, many people were at home or out and about on the grounds of the complex. Diane was nervous thinking about what others must be thinking about us. At the closest approach, I was standing next to an apartment window while the occupant was watching me. You have to admit it is a rather strange sight – three people walking with no apparent destination, watching an instrument and taking pictures. The only photos I could get of my wife and of my father was of their backsides as they were walking away. I have also included photos of a park, a library and a street sign (Garland Avenue and Walden Road) which are across the street from the apartment complex. This was a fun visit. We made it back to Annapolis in time for Mothers’ Day dinner.
