26-Jul-2018 -- After having visited hundreds of Degree Confluence Points, I was pleased to finally get to visit one on the Greenwich Meridian. This point lies just off a narrow paved country road, near the northern end of a horse farm, close to the E70 autoroute. A wooden marker notes the significance of this point.
Three years ago, I visited
45N 120W in Oregon, USA - halfway between the Equator and the North Pole, and ⅓ of the way around the world from the Greenwich Meridian. At the time, I noted that there were only four other Degree Confluence Points on land that rivaled it in significance. Now that I’ve visited this point, that leaves three more to visit: the South Pole, and the (still unvisited by anyone) points 0N 120E (in Indonesia) and 45N 120E (in China).
Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
