11-Jul-2018 -- During the summer holidays direction Pyrenees I had the chance to visit some confluence points.
We came from direction east on the autoroute A89 and took the last exit before the confluence point 45°N 0°. It was necessary because the exit directly at the CP is to be used only by road service cars. So the way lead trough the village Montpon-Ménestérol, followed the road Avenue d'Aquitaine until the village Saint-Seurin-Sur-L'Isle was reached. Nearly in the middle of the village the GPS showed to the south, to take the road D123. After 1.5 km the autoroute was crossed. At the crossing we took the service road direction west and found the location of the confluence point 45°N 0° at a distance of 170 m from the crossing.
I parked the car in front of the closed gate to the autoroute. From there it was a distance of 50 m to the CP. The point was shown on a field on the other side of a ditch. But I found the old confluence sign on the road side of the ditch. After a picture of the wooden sign and a jump over the ditch I found the exact location of the confluence of the 45th degree of latitude with the Greenwich Meridian. It was funny to observe the GPS display, changing between zero degrees east and zero degrees west. With differential GPS signal (WAAS on) an accuracy of only 2 m were displayed later on.
Shortly after the continuation of the journey, we had a stop at the Super-U market and saw a nicely finished Renault R4.
