(visited by Ross Finlayson)

07-Aug-2022 -- My final visit to a Degree Confluence Point today was to this point in the small town of Fredericktown, next to the Monongahela River. I had previously visited this point in August 2000, 22 years ago. At that time, I took only two photos, and didn’t adequately describe the point. So it was time to revisit this point, to more accurately record it.

Fredericktown consists of two parts: a lower town, next to the Monongahela River, and an upper town, on a bluff above the river. The point lies in the upper town, in the lawn of a private residence. By staying on the sidewalk, I was able to get within 17 feet (+/- GPS error of 6 feet) of the point. Across the road - to the Southeast - is a prominent church. (Surprisingly, the statue of Mary that Joseph Kerski noted 12 years ago is no longer there.) Because there are private residences all around, I chose not to fly my drone to get an aerial view.
