21-Mar-2025 -- Eine doch eher bescheidene (partielle) Sonnenfinsternis am 29.03.2025 war für uns Ausrede und Anlass genug, mal wieder mit unserem Wohnmobil vom Bodensee in Europas Südwesten zu fahren. Bei dieser Sonnenfinsternis waren die Bretagne in Frankreich und der Nordosten Spaniens in puncto Bedeckungsgrad in etwa vergleichbar; jedoch gehen mir in Frankreich doch so langsam die unbesuchten CPs aus. Dies, aber auch die Tatsache, dass im August 2026 eine totale Sonnenfinsternis erneut in Nordspanien stattfinden wird, gaben den Ausschlag für Spanien, da man nun diese Reise auch zum Erkunden geeigneter Beobachtungsorte für 2026 nutzen konnte.

Daher ging es am 19.03.2025 via Valence (südlich von Lyon) und Lleida in Richtung 41. Breitengrad; dabei auf der Autobahn Barcelona-Zaragoza noch einen beachtlichen Bogen durchfahren, der das Überqueren des Nullmeridians verkündete (Foto 10). Als erster CP (von schlussendlich 14) wurde von uns N 41 / W 3 angefahren.

Unser Navi führte uns in die Ortschaft „La Toba“ und dort linkerhand in ein schmales Sträßchen. Dieses führte uns wieder aus dem Ort heraus – ich parkte unser WoMo sodann im Bereich einer Kreuzung ca. 920 Meter Luftlinie vom CP entfernt. (Foto 8) Ich hatte eigentlich angedacht, näher an den CP heran zu fahren – als ich dann den doch sehr holprigen und feuchten Weg bergab ging, war ich froh, dort oben auf dem Hügel geparkt zu haben. Unten angekommen, durchquerte ich eine Senke (mit Bach) und ging dann wieder leicht bergan Richtung CP-Feld. Aufgrund der zahlreichen Niederschläge im Winter und Frühjahr in Spanien dann dort in üblem Matsch bei gutem Empfang den CP lokalisiert und die notwendigen Fotos gemacht.

Zur Dokumentation des „CP-Sumpfes“ habe ich mal ausnahmsweise auch den ground zero abgelichtet (Foto 5). Zurück zum WoMo auf gleichem Weg (Foto 9 (gefertigt auf Rückweg) zeigt Senke mit Bach und Weg hinauf, zum hinter der Geländekante geparktem WoMo) – dauerte alles in allem doch fast 45 Minuten, bevor es für uns dann weiter ging zu 41°N 4°W

21-Mar-2025 -- An unspectacular solar eclipse on 29th of march 2025 was sufficient pretext and reason for this tour to Spain and Portugal. Obscuration in northern Spain was quite the same as in Brittany (France) – but since my tableau of unvisited CPs in France is rather empty, the decision for Spain was easy. Also because in 2026 a total solar eclipse will happen there – so a good occasion now to look for ideal observation places in 2026. So on 19th of march 2025 we started our campingcartour from the lake of Constance via Valence (south of Lyon) and Lleida towards 41. parallel – thereby crossing an huge bow on the highway between Barcelona and Zaragoza (pic. 10) documenting the passing of the meridian of Greenwich. First CP (of finally 14) on our tour was N 41 / W 3.

Our navi led us to the village „La Toba“ and then lefthand in a small road. After some meters we left again the village and I parked our campingcar in a distance of approx. 920 meters beeline from the CP in a comfortable junction (see pic. 8). I first had planned to drive nearer to the CP – when walking down the wet and very rough track, I was glad having parked the campingcar near the top of the hill.

The CP is located on a field; due to a very wet winter and spring in spain, the confluence dance was of the slow and muddy kind. (pic. 5 shows muddy ground zero with CP hunter stuck in it). Then same way back to the campingcar – pic. 9 (taken on way back) shows track with creek and hill with parking place on top. After some 45 minutes we drove towards 41°N 4°W
