20-Apr-2002 -- The confluence at 39N119W lies in the Nevada desert some 9 miles east of Yerington. We had a McDonalds breakfast in Yerington and set out on our 3 confluence day that began with 39N119W.
Five or six miles east on US 95 and a few miles south on a reasonable desert dirt road put us at a landmark called Hendricks Well. I say landmark, because not only was it on my map, but it was also marked by a US Department of the Interior marker in the ground (see photo #6). There were a partially standing wood structure and some rusty machinery there giving credence to the possibility that there once may have been a well and associated structures there.
The confluence lay a half mile due west of Hendricks Well. Dual tracks that Emma (my Explorer) could navigate led southwest and took me to about 1/3 mile south of the confluence. From there it was a relatively easy hike to the confluence that was almost to the top of a low hill. Photos 1 through 4 show the desert landscape surrounding the confluence and photo #5 shows my GPS with all zeros. Retracing our steps back to US 95 we were on to the next stop.
