On our way from Aus to Sesriem and Sossusvlei we decided to make a small detour to the little town of Helmeringhausen, both to attempt the Confluence south-east of the town and to fill up with petrol as we were unsure whether there was petrol available at Sesriem. In fact there was petrol there as well as at Solitaire.

At Helmeringhausen we had some lovely pancakes and tea at the only tea room. A leaflet advertising the tearoom showed the Confluence on a small map. The Confluence lies about 200 m off the T-junction between C14 and D417.
