#1: View North

(visited by Ross Finlayson)

10-Jul-2013 -- Continued from 49N 8E.

This confluence point - lying east of Frankfurt - might be the noisiest confluence point that I've ever visited, because it lies just next to a busy Autobahn. (Not only that, but this is one of those sections of Autobahn that has no speed limit, which makes the traffic noise even louder.) As I visited this point, I was reminded of the point 35N 92W in Arkansas, USA; that point also lies next to a busy freeway.

To reach the point, I exited the Autobahn just a kilometer or so to the West, backtracked to the small village of Mainhausen-Zellhausen, and followed a narrow country road - through the adjacent forest - that took me to about 300 meters from the point. An overgrown path took me the rest of the way. The confluence point lies in the forest.

Nearby I saw a hunting blind, built in a tree. I wonder, though, whether or not this is such a good spot for hunting; wouldn't the noise from the nearby Autobahn scare away much of the prospective prey?
