11-Mar-2001 -- 54N 19E is situated south of Malbork. Me and my son Jarek left Bydgoszcz at 10:30. Having covered 145km we found ourselves at the outskirts of Malbork. To the left of the road there is an old, small wood and the GPS fortunately points that way. We go back and following a duct we see old, most probably German origin bunkers hidden in the wood, scattered within some hundred meter radius. The wood was very small so a kilometer farther, there are fields again and some buildings. The remnants of the main bunker's roof show traces of some huge mast once located on top of it.

We wonder when the bunkers were built, what was inside and who used them later on. We had planned to see the Malbork castle and that is why we did not have time to ask the locals -- maybe there is someone from Malbork who knows that? Some dozen meters away from the bunkers we found the 'magical' zeros on the display and went on to see the castle. It is the most impressive medieval castle in Poland, once belonging to the Teutonic Knights. All in all, the trip was very interesting -- according to the GPS it lasted 6.5 hours and we covered a distance of 320km gaining lots of impressions.
