18-Mar-2006 -- I was visiting nearby Cirencester, around 20 miles away, so I swung by this CP on my way back to London. It was a nice drive along narrow country lanes through pretty villages, all built in the same Cotswold stone. I had plenty of time to admire the scenery, as I was stuck behind a horsebox for most of the way.
I parked by the pub and walked the 200 yards up the bridleway to the CP. The GPS told me the CP was in a field off to the right of the path. While I was prevaricating whether to venture into the field, a local walking his dog greeted me. I explained to him what I was doing and asked him if it would be OK to go into the field. I'm pretty sure he didn't understand a word I said, but he told me to go ahead anyway, especially as it wasn't his field.
The CP was just the other side of the fence, by a monster compost pile. I took the ob. North, South, East & West shots, then left the scene, as it was freezing cold and I wasn't really dressed for the weather.
While typing this up I realised this is my second CP on this longitude (the other being 48N, 2W). Maybe I should plan a visit to the in-between ones and join the dots!
