18-Jul-2008 -- We were on the way to the north during our summer vacations when I remembered that confluence 71°N 26°E was not far from Honningsvåg and easy to reach. Since we stopped in Honningsvåg to charge our electrical car TWIKE for the last stage to Nordkapp, we had lots of time to make the short walk from the petrol station up the hill.
Unfortunately, we weren't as lucky with the weather as the former visitors. Heavy fog was lying over the island of Magerøya and after we reached an altitude of 100m, the view was gone. All we could see was lying in an area of about 50m around us, an arctic landscape with a lot of stones, sand and a thin cover of vegetation. However, some nice flowers seem to survive in this climate, we found them just beside the confluence.
In the afternoon, we continued our trip further north to Nordkapp, the northernmost point of Norway you can reach by car. The view was the same as some hours before up from Honningsvåg, nothing, not even ten meters...
