28-Nov-2009 -- Coming over from 35°N 119°W, we drove over Tehachapi Pass, watching the trains chugging along. Dave and I discussed the Joad family, which had taken the same route (in the other direction) in "The Grapes of Wrath".
Driving east along SR-58, we drove until we passed 118W, and then looked for a place to turn right off the highway. The first dirt road was very close to 118W, but we couldn't slow down in time, and took the next one (about 1/2 mile farther east). We drove south on that road until we hit the train tracks, and then back to the west on a track that paralleled the tracks until we reached the confluence.
Dave was able to park his jeep on the confluence. All in all, this was the easiest confluence I've been to.
Next was 35°N 117°W
