09-Jun-2018 -- This is the 5th out of 12 reports reaching confluence points in Poland. The story starts at 52°N 21°E and continues from 52°N 18°E.
With 2.5 hours driving time, this was the longest drive between two confluence points (out of altogether 11 drives between points). The reason was, that there are no highways from the neighbouring confluence in the south and we had to drive minor roads all the time. In addition, we went along a longitude line which means 110 km beeline between two confluence points instead of 70 km along the latitude line.
We parked at an official parking lot in 440 m distance. Driving closer to the confluence point was prevented by a gate. After walking directly to the confluence on a sandy forest track, we were surprised to find a monument at the confluence location. I only read the reports from previous visits after my own visit but not before. This way I can explore the confluence independently on my own without any bias from others. Therefore, I get often surprises.
The monument consists of a concrete stone cross with a natural stone on top. But the highlight are two signposts, with one being devoted to confluence.org! This is the first out of 700 confluence points that I have visited, that officially mentions and describes the Degree Confluence Project.
The confluence is in a pine forest with high standing grass as ground cover.
