19-Oct-2025 --
My wife and I visited the 37N/122W confluence on Oct 19, 2025. This confluence not only turned out to be the closest to our home, but also maybe the most convenient to visit in the whole state. It is located in a public park, just off a hiking trail
We parked at the hiking trail entrance, a couple of miles from the confluence. The hike is easy and mostly flat, through a very pretty redwood forest. It turned out we've been on this very same trail before and passed right next to the point without ever realizing it.
We met only a couple of other hikers on our trip. One of the hikers seemed quite puzzled why we would be standing around, waving a GPS left and right and taking pictures of it.
We were not able to get a zero reading, because the confluence point is located in dense forest and the coordinates kept jumping a few meters in each direction all the time. For sure we went all around the confluence point though - we were a couple of meters east, west, north, and south of it at various points of time. If I have to guess, the confluence coincided with a tree stump - this is where the readings were closest to 0.
