My wife had booked a two days' indigo printing course somewhere near Münster and does not like to dive in darkness. So I played the driver and had to develop my own touristical programme for the two days, with a visit of Osnabrück on the first. For the second one, I decided to make a roundtrip in eastern Münsterland and start with a visit of my third confluence (52°N; 8°E).
I approached the site from west via Everswinkel and Milte. There are a few farms which form a hamlet called Gröblingen. The confluence is easily accessible using a paved country lane (where traffic is limited to locals and farmers which I neglected). I parked my car behind another one whose owner was walking his dog and may have wondered about the intentions of a foreign visitor. The ground zero itself lies only 16 m east from this lane in an asparagus field. I refrained from ruining my shoes in deep mud and stayed on the grass.
The required on-site pictures were quickly taken. There is a farm approx. 200 m southwest of ground zero, in front of which the confluence is shown by an artist's work on a boulder showing the intersection. A metal plate says that the stone lies exactly on the parallel while being located 75,40 m west of 8°E - which I doubt. According to my opinion, the boulder is 155 m south of the parallel and 137 m west of the meridian.
I left the place heading north for the double castle estate of Harkotten - which also offers a pleasant, cosy café where I could sit by the fireplace and ponder upon the hazards of being this confluence's first November visitor.
