27-Apr-2002 -- We stopped here on our way to the Rainbow Basin National Landmark. A local favorite for people interested in geology or just colorful rock formations. Also close by is an attraction of another kind (touristy): Calico Ghost Town.
Not much has changed in the over two years since the first visit to this confluence. The service road mentioned by the first visitor was sandy, but passable with any high clearance vehicle. The road comes to within about .17 miles of the confluence.
We found ourselves under a big, dark cloud (see pictures), which of course did not release any refreshing rain. Not in these parts, not this time of year. This is a typical Mojave Desert confluence, with its Joshua trees and other prickly vegetation. We took some pictures all around and headed back to Barstow.
(Note: The visit took place on the 27-April; Date/Time on the GPS are not local time!)
