11-Jun-2004 -- Since I live locally, I chose this confluence for my first one. I fired up the old Jeep and set out for a day of 4 wheel adventures and decided to bag this confluence on the way to other areas. Little did I know that this would be the biggest thrill of the day.
Locating the confluence was easy. I just drove out For Irwin Road North of Barstow to Rainbow Basin Road. I entered the coordinates for the confluence into my GPS units and started to chase the arrow. I turned onto the two rut road beneath the power line towers and went to the 4th tower where I parked the Jeep and walked the .2 mile to target.
It was quite a thrill to find the exact point where two such important location lines cross. I have been in this area many times and I never knew that this point was here.
I set my camera up on a tripod and lined it up with my compass. The cardinal direction photos are all true. Then I set the timer and took the photo of me at the confluence.
