12-May-2005 -- The previous visitor to this degree confluence placed a geocache at the location and submitted a geocache listing to
geocaching.com. Seeing the new geocache listing pop up, I decided
to go to the location myself, both to find the geocache and to
visit this degree confluence.
Like the previous visitor, I chose to approach from the North.
There are a few choices for the entry point. I noticed that there
was a parking lot and trailhead on Old Tappan Road approximately
0.8 of a mile from the confluence. However, I drove into the
residential area and saw another entry point about 0.3 of a mile
from the confluence.
Once in the woods, I followed some well-worn trails until I got
to within 180 feet of the confluence. The terrain was dry and
firm all the way, except for one minor creek crossing. According
to the GPS, the error was about 30 feet. Tree cover caused the
GPS reading to vary somewhat, but with a bit of adjustment and
some patience, I was able to photograph a set of coordinates with
exact degrees.
