4th confluence out of a trip of 5

Continued from 50°N 19°E.

I left downtown of Cracow at 12:30 in the afternoon and going towards Wieliczka reached the Wielicki Interchange where currently the A4 highway ends. There I turned to the west and drove ca. 2 km via Kosocicka Street to Hallera Street. My previous analysis of a city plan showed that I could reach the confluence either from the north via Bednarska Street or from the south via Blacharska Street. I chose the latter one in order to be at the “right” (south) side of the highway. Right after a flyover over the highway on Hallera Street I turned left in Blacharska Street. The name was more than proper since there were several auto-body repair garages. Unfortunately, the condition of that “street” bred suspicion that each car that passes it would be a prospective client of a garage.

At turtle speed I went through these horrible potholes and reached a paddock, a tunnel under the highway and a gravel road running along it. There I parked my car as the distance to the confluence showed by GPS was ca. 110 m. I walked several dozen meters through a meadow and came to a birch-willow grove. GPS readings were oddly unstable but finally I managed to locate the “zero” point – as my predecessors described it there were some stones lying on the ground, one of them being painted bright orange. I took commemorative photographs and some roundabout but more comfortable way returned to the car. On my way back to the city I went via Bednarska Street and it turned out to be slightly better than Blacharska Street. It was the second confluence visited by me within two days that lies so close to a highway.
