26-Dec-2008 -- The second Christmas day turned out to be a wonderful winter day in the black forest with some degrees below zero, sun and blue sky. Since we liked to do a small trip with the electrical car TWIKE, we decided to visit confluence 48°N 8°E, about 50km to drive from Villingen through the black forest.
Even if there was snow at the top of Thurner and around a height of 1000m, it disappeared immediately when we drove down to St. Peter and further down the valley towards the confluence. We parked the car beside the road and followed the path uphill behind the new building.
The walk was easy along the path, but steep uphill. It took us a few minutes before we got an almost stable zero for 48°N 8°E and a picture of the GPS. The forest reduces the reception and we got an accuracy of 6m.
After taking the usual pictures, we walked down to the car again and drove back to Villingen. This turned out to be a quite cold trip in the car without heating and strong and cold winds from the east.
