20-Aug-2010 -- This is the companion visit to visit number 14 on 19th May, I am back seeing the same people, it isn't actually 800 yards from where they live to the CP. According to GE it is just 564 yards!
When I first came here with Rachel, back in April 2002 the field by the Oast House was empty, as it was on subsequent visits in 2008 & 2009. When I was here in May I noticed that there was activity in the field, confirmed by checking in GE.
I decided this time to go and have a look and see what it actually was. turns out that it is now a pheasant farm. There are some steel Nissan huts and some wire enclosed cages. The blue barrel on top of the cage says "Pheasant - Hatch 4". Mystery solved. There were no birds at all in any of the cages.
Wander back towards the path down the side of the field, and notice what I guess is some sort of feeder - though I can't imagine what for - it looks like a giant mushroom. A bit further on and there is corn waiting to be harvested. Nowhere near as tall as the corn I saw in Texas though.
Walk on down to the CP and take the required pictures. Notice in the North shot that this field has been used a lot recently as the tractor has created a little "highway" through the field.
