22-Mai-2022 -- Im vergangenen Jahr habe ich damit begonnen, jene Konfluenzpunkte zu besuchen, die ich von zuhause (Essen) in mehrtägigen Touren mit dem Fahrrad erreichen kann. Zuletzt waren dies 52N 5E und 52N 6E in den Niederlanden, sowie 52N 8E am Südrand des Teutoburger Waldes.

Nun war 51N 8E an der Reihe. Dieser liegt im Rothaargebirge, und um die kraftzehrenden Anstiege in Grenzen zu halten, hatte ich eine Route gewählt, bei der ich stets Flüssen folgen konnte: zunächst der Ruhr und der Lenne, dann ein kurzes Stück der Hundem und zuletzt der Olpe. Bei Kreuztal-Littfeld ging es dann hinauf in die Hänge des „Ziegenberges“, zunächst über ein Asphaltsträßchen, dann über fahrrad-unfreundliche Waldwege, die wohl vor allem forstwirtschaftlich genutzt werden. Der Konfluenzpunkt liegt an einem Hang in einem – seit dem letzten Besuch 2015 teilweise abgeholzten – Nadelwald. Das Areal ist eingezäunt, aber etwas westlich vom 8. Meridian hat der Zaun eine Lücke, so dass ich den Punkt nach einem kurzen Fußweg erreichen und bei strahlendem Sonnenschein meine Fotos machen konnte.

Bei Gelegenheit werde ich in einer ebenfalls zweitägigen Fahrradtour 51N 6E ansteuern.

22-May-2022 -- Last year I started to visit those confluence points that I can reach from home (Essen, Germany) on multi-day bicycle tours. Most recently these were 52N 5E and 52N 6E in the Netherlands and 52N 8E on the southern edge of the Teutoburg Forest.

Now my target was 51N 8E. This confluence point is in the Rothaar Mountains, and in order to keep the strenuous climbs within limits, I had chosen a route where I always could follow rivers: first the Ruhr and the Lenne, then a short stretch of the Hundem and finally the Olpe. At Kreuztal-Littfeld I went up into the slopes of the "Ziegenberg", first on a small asphalt road, then on bicycle-unfriendly forest paths, which are probably used primarily for forestry purposes. The confluence point is on a slope in a coniferous forest that has been partially deforested since last visit in 2015. The area is fenced in, but there is a gap in the fence just west of the 8^th meridian, so I was able to walk the short distance to the point and take my photos in the bright sunshine.
