10-Nov-2002 -- This was the second of three confluences visited this Veteran's Day weekend. David Mower visited this one only a month earlier. Having the benefit of his report, we went directly to Mission Ave. past the gated community for our approach. Today being Sunday, there was no construction traffic; in fact the area was being used by dirt bikers doing their "thing." Our visit was relatively uneventful. The confluence is on the side of a steep rocky slope (near the base of the right side of the vertical rock formation at the top of the hill in the foreground of photo #3) overlooking new development on the outskirts of Henderson, NV (see photo #2). We scrambled up the slope and found the cairn erected by earlier visitors (photo #4). I added my symbolic rock to the cairn for the sake of the record. I got all zeros on my GPSr (photo #5) just a few feet from the cairn. Photo #1 shows the view west from the confluence. We returned to the truck for a late lunch before heading out of civilization and back to the desert for the next adventure in our GPS weekend.
