12-Mar-2007 -- On our recent visit to Germany and France I was hoping to get in a confluence. Well, we were successful. Leaving from Maxdorf, Germany early in the afternoon we found a nice spot for a quick picnic where we fuelled up on Mezzo Mix, yummy!!!!
Then off on our journey. We headed south on the autobahn 65. We missed our exit and got off one later and made the crossing into France near Lauterbourg. We then took off cross country through some pretty little towns in the countryside. The kids were getting out of school and I could swear that they were speaking German, but we were in France. We had to pull over to let a huge semi by that was hauling some big piece of something. After passing through the town of Schleithal I knew that we were getting close.
We pulled off at a parking area and the GPS said that we had to cross the road and go into a field. We chased the GPS around and ended up going back across the road and into the woods. Where after some waiting we got a 000 reading. We were also able to find the geocache that is nearby. After taking the required photos we decided to take the back roads back to Maxdorf.
On our return we drove into the mountains, then up the German Winestreet. It was a beautiful day and we even impressed one of our German relatives for having gotten out to see the countryside by ourselves.
