06-Feb-2011 -- On our way back from Cataluna after having successfully visited 42° North 3° East, we took our chance on this next point along the same Meridien. This visit was also successful.
The CP is located on the hill of “Cap Romarin” (Altitude 131 meters) between Sigean and La Palme. Many windmills are settled on this hill and the access to the hill top is easy using either any of the footpaths or the service track to the windmills. Once on the top of the hill the CP is easy to zero in.
There is not much of interest in the CP area. We would like to emphasize the Salses Castle, 22 kilometers south which is worth a visit. This fortress was built during the 15th century and definitively conquered by the French army of king Louis XIV in 1642. It remains a typical example of late medieval military architecture. From the windmill service road one can also get some pretty view over the Sainte-Lucie saltmarsh on the North.
