15-Apr-2001 -- I first heard about confluence.org from my girlfriend's sister Franziska. I was immediately enthusiastic and made plans to visit a confluence myself.

One of the unvisited confluences is situated in Thuringia, where my girlfriend comes from and her parents still live. Franziska and I decided to catch the confluence next time we'll visit her parents. Additionally I contacted my girlfriend's father to check the site and to organize the GPS.

On a cold and windy sunday, Easter 2001, Elisabeth and Ulrich Mahlau, my parents-in-law, got N 51 E 11, which is located near a pretty ugly neighborhood in the north of Erfurt, the capital of Thuringia. The confluence itself is on a easily accessible road behind a gas station.

Ulrich was so infected by the confluence-fewer, that he was heading to N 51 E 12 a few days later.
