India's first confluence is inside the gates of a car factory, at 13°N 80°E. The second is passed by hundreds each day, at 29°N 77°E.

For the first successful visit to 38°N, 110°W, Dustin and his father parked about 44 miles away, where they figured they had the closest approach by paved road, and dirt biked in. Later, David Wallentine, unaware of the first visit as it had not been posted, gave up when faced with multiple cliffs and mesas.

31°N 31°E, the first confluence in Egypt, is next to an irrigation canal, and the first attempt of the only confluence in Kuwait was thwarted by border guards and a nasty looking fence at 29°N 48°E.

On their first attempt to 16°S 49°W, the confluence hunters got lost in the dark. On their successful second visit, after travelling through swamps and woods full of poisonous snakes and thorns, they finally made it out at 2:15 A.M.!

poland is complete [25-Jul-01]
Ten visitors (including one dog) met at 52°N 18°E, the last of Poland's 40 confluences to be visited! Thanks to Grzegorz Chyla for all his work.

There's a new world map of confluences provided by Pima County, Arizona. It allows seamless panning and zooming of the entire world! You can double-click on a confluence to go to its page. A free MapGuide viewer plug-in is required. It's well worth the download.

Seven visits cover six provinces, including 53°N 109°W and 50°N 103°W as the first in Saskatchewan. Snowshoes and volcanoes are part of 50°N 123°W, the first official confluence in British Columbia.

A lot of people are aware of the demise of Selective Availability, which means that GPS devices just got a lot more accurate. This is great news for us, and means that new projects like Geocaching can be accurate enough to work. Next confluence you visit, leave a cache!

Two confluence hunters visit the Royal Greenwich Observatory (where the Greenwich Meridian, 0 degrees longitude, was defined). It is not on an actual confluence point, but is included here due to the historical importance and its key role in defining longitude around the globe.
