29-Aug-2024 -- Im Spätsommer 2024 unternehmen mein Freund und ich eine mehrtägige Fahrradtour zu neun ausgewählten Orten, von denen jeder mit einer gewissen Berechtigung als "Mittelpunkt Deutschlands" gelten kann. (Dies liegt daran, dass es für die Ermittlung des Mittelpunktes eines Landes unterschiedliche Berechnungsmethoden gibt.) Einer dieser Mittelpunkte ist der Konfluenzpunkt 51°N 10°E: Davon ausgehend, dass der 51. Breitengrad Deutschland etwa in Nord-Süd-Richtung halbiert, und der 10. Längengrad etwa in West-Ost-Richtung, kann man diesen Konfluenzpunkt durchaus als Mittelpunkt Deutschlands ansehen.

Am dritten Tag unserer Tour radeln wir von Rotenburg nach Creuzburg und steigen in das Richelsdorfer Gebirge auf, um diesen Konfluenzpunkt zu besuchen. Er liegt in einer bäuerlich geprägten, hügeligen Kulturlandschaft auf einem Feld. Eine Infotafel am Rande des Ackers weist auf den "Mittelpunkt Deutschlands" hin und darauf, dass sich der Konfluenzpunkt in 43 Metern Entfernung auf dem Feld befindet. Ich posiere bei der Infotafel mit einem Pappschild "2" für ein Foto, weil dies der zweite Besuch eines Mittelpunktes ist, und betrete den Acker, um den exakten Konfluenzpunkt aufzusuchen. Nach einigen Minuten kann ich "nullen"!

29-Aug-2024 -- In late summer 2024, my friend and I are going on a multi-day bike tour to nine selected locations, each of which can be considered the "center of Germany" with some justification. (This is because there are different calculation methods for determining the center of a country.) One of these centers is the confluence point 51°N 10°E: assuming that the 51st parallel roughly bisects Germany in a north-south direction, and the 10th longitude roughly bisects Germany in a west-east direction, this confluence point can certainly be seen as the center of Germany.

On the third day of our tour we cycle from Rotenburg to Creuzburg and climb into the Richelsdorf Mountains to visit this confluence point. It is located in a rural, hilly cultural landscape on a field. An information board at the edge of the field points to the "center of Germany" and that the confluence point is 43 meters away in the field. I pose at the information board with a cardboard sign "2" for a photo as this is the second visit to a center and enter the field to find the exact confluence point. After a few minutes I see zeros on my GPS receiver!
