16-May-2013 -- We always combine the development of confluence points with a hike between 20 - 40 km. The 52 x 14 is east of the northern Spreewald, in an extensive and hilly forest area. The hike started at -11 ° C! For the first time, my parka was able to really prove itself for “Extremly Cold Weather”. In the case of the Spreewald, it is always rightly pointed out how unique the Spreewald phenomenon is and that there are aspects that cannot be explained. What is immediately noticeable is the unusually little settlement density by German standards. The main livelihood is now likely to be tourism. That is probably one of the reasons why all the people we met were very friendly. Most of the former village consumption of the GDR are still cultivated! Overall, the village culture of the area seems to be in tact. Is that due to the large distances between the settlements or are the Wends and Sorbs simply cozy and traditional? The adventure ended on a former military airfield, on which the largest cantilevered hall of the Milky Way stands. Planned for the construction of transport zeppelins, used as a "bathing establishment" in an oversized tennis hall (Tropical Island). You can spend the night there, which obviously Russians and Poles also seem to like to use. Overall a very nice hike.

Previous hike was 52 x 13.

The hike was 28.6 km; height difference +452 m, -430 m; max. gradient +23.1 %, -13.2 %. If you like, I send you the route in GPS Exchange Format 1.1. Send (* .gpx).

(*.gpx) zusenden. („pgehre@aol.com“).
