The visit of this Confluence Point was reason for planning a hiking trip at the river of Zschopau near Mittweida.
The Confluence Point ‘51N-13E’ is located only a few meters inside a field. With care for the growing vegetables I reached the CP-location very easily. This visit took place with a borrowed GPS-unit from a friend of mine, a Garmin. By comparison to my smart phone with blue tooth GPS-mouse this gadget works perfectly! I think it shows an average of the last given NMEA data sets. The coordinates were not changing as crazily as happens with my phone. So I had my picture of the coordinates within a view seconds only! And this with an accuracy of two meters! It was overcast but not too cloudy. The dirt road next to the field was quite muddy so I parked the car near the paved road which leads from Mittweida to Weißthal.
While nearing the hiking trail ‘Rundweg’, we saw the river of Zschopau through the leafless trees in front of Ringethal. Later we crossed the river by using a quite new bridge in distance of about 1 kilometer from the CP and met a stony old man: Hermann von Schroeter. He was the last owner of an old knight-fortress nearby and arranged 1863 the establishment of a bridge between the ‘water villages’ and Mittweida. The original bridge was replaced by a new one in 1999.
