01-Nov-2014 -- Auf dem Heimweg vom Urlaub am Chiemsee, während dessen wir 48°N 13°E besucht hatten, wollten wir noch unsere Lücke der besuchten Punkte auf dem 48. Breitengrad schließen. Es war zwar nicht gerade ein Umweg, aber man kommt auf den Landstraßen natürlich wesentlich langsamer voran, als auf der Autobahn. Über Rott am Inn erreichten wir Aßling von Osten auf der St2079, die dort zur St2080 wird und weiter nach Nord-Nord-Westen führt.

Wenige hundert Meter hinter dem Ortsschild geht nach links ein geteerter Feldweg ab, der direkt zum Confluence-Monument führt und dann über eine kleine Brücke. Die Steinplatte auf dem Stein ist nur sehr schwer lesbar, aber auf dem Foto lässt sich die Inschrift entziffern. Sie scheint zum 50-jährigen Jubiläum des SPD-Ortsverbands Aßling/Loitersdorf im Jahr 1997 aufgestellt worden zu sein. Interessanterweise steht auf der Platte „12° E“ für East und nicht „12° O“ für Ost.

Der eigentliche Punkt befindet sich wenige Meter vom Weg entfernt in einem Feld, das ich nicht betreten wollte, um die Pflanzen nicht zu zertreten und mir auch die Schuhe nicht schmutzig zu machen. Deswegen zeigt das GPS auch nicht alle Nullen.

Im Norden sieht man von hier aus die Straße St2080, im Osten die letzten Häuser von Aßling, im Süden einige Felder und dahinter einen weiteren Teil von Aßling und im Westen den erwähnten Confluence-Fels.

Die übliche Prozedur dauerte nicht einmal 15 Minuten, dann waren wir schon wieder auf dem weiteren Weg nach Hause.

29-Oct-2014 -- On our way home from vacation at the Chiemsee, during which we visited 48°N 13°E, we wanted to close our gap in the line of confluence points on 48^th parallel. It was not really a detour but on the country roads you can't drive as fast as on the motorway. Via Rott am Inn we reached Aßling from the East on the road ST2079, which turns there into the ST2080 and goes on to the North-North-East.

A few hundred meters after leaving the town again a small tarmac field road goes to the left which leads directly to the confluence monument and from there across a small bridge. The stone plate on the rock has an inscription which is hard to read but looking at the photo it can be deciphered. It seems that it was set up for the 50^th anniversary of the local chapter of the Social Democratic Party at Aßling and Loitersdorf in 1997. For some reason, the coordinates are given as 12° E for East instead of “O” for German “Ost”.

The exact CP is located a few meters from the road in a field which I didn't want to tread on as I didn't want to step on the plants and also not get my shoes dirty. That is why the GPS doesn't show all zeros.

To the North you can see the road St2080, to the East the last houses of Aßling, to the South some fields and behind them another part of Aßling and to the West the aforementioned confluence rock.

The usual procedure took us just 15 minutes then we got back on our way home.
